You're a student and are seeking a part-time(or full-time) job. How far would you be willing to commute? Would this decision be based primarily on pay, location, or your interest in a job? Would you commute a long distance for a job that really interested you that at the same time, didn't pay well? Would you commute a long distance to a job that didn't interest you, but at the same time DID pay well? Do you have a reliable means of transportation and if you don't, if you did have a reliable means of transportation, would you commute far? Please note that this is a job you'd have while going to high school or college and would not impact your future career. A way to get you through school, so to speak.

In my experience, I've had a job that paid really well for a student with little working experience ($11.25/hour), but was over 20 minutes away. The job somewhat interested me, but wasn't something I really wanted to do. I was always scheduled the earliest morning shift, and no matter how early I left my house, always got stuck in traffic. When it came down to it, even though I made a decent hourly wage, a large chunk of my paycheck went towards paying for gas to get to the job.

I would prefer working a job that interested me close to my house at a minimal wage, rather than commuting to a job that paid well. If I was really interested in the job, I would consider commuting, no matter what the hourly wage was. Of course, the wage would have to be enough to pay for expenses.

if i can use public transportation and it's a full time job i'm willing to go up to an hour or 2. but if i have to drive myself it all depends on how much gas money it's gonna cost me relative to how much i'm gonna be making. i wouldn't drive an hour each way for a 4 hr shift.

As a student, no more than 5-10 minutes. And luckily, I live in a part of town where there a ton of jobs available.

After I graduate, I'd be willing to travel up to 30-45 minutes

I voted 25-30 minutes. But that is the max. Meaning that the job paid well, it interested me, and it could give me great experience. For an average job I wouldn't want to drive more than 20 minutes.

I was offered a better job than I have now and it was about 25-30 minutes away, but I turned it down since it was only marginally better than this one, but the opportunity wouldn't have been as good, and I didn't not have as much of a desire to work there.

If I'm a student, no more than 20 - 30 minutes at the very most.  With a full course load, I have very little time reserved for things like commuting.  Moreover, at or near minimum wage, long commutes are not worth the costs of my already very limited funds.  But the nice thing about most part time jobs is that it's generally not too difficult to find one nearby wherever you are, so commutes are usually never a problem.

If I'm not a student and have a professional job, I'd put up with an hour of commuting.  I probably wouldn't like it, but seeing how that's about the time it takes to get in and out of Seattle and other major centers during rush hour from where I currently live, I'd probably have to put up with it if I ever got a job in any of those dreaded cities.

Half an hour but with traffic past 5pm it takes longer which I don't like.  I wish I worked some where close that was an okay job.
