There is a difference between thoughts and active paedophilia. Paedophilia is actually more widespread than you may think, as in attractions to young people or even children. However most people who think like this would never actually rape a child, it's similar to a straight man raping a woman - many men are attracted to women but only very few would rape a woman.

Now I'm not defending paedophilia however there IS a distinction between thoughts and active paedophilia.

I'm now prepared for people to start accusing me of being attractive to children for expressing this opinion, but oh well.
